Procession of the Kings

On the evening of 5 January all over Spain local communities come together to celebrate the arrival of the the Three Kings to present their gifts to the baby Jesus in Bethlehem

This year we were in Pinoso to see the procession.

Starting off with the traditional nativity scene. The parade celebrates the end of the Christmas period. Groups of locals had clearly spent much time perfecting dances and entertainment. There was a drum troop, a dragon (honestly there was) and a circus act with a huge wheel on which the lady performed balancing acts. All this in a procession ahead of a huge float on top of which stood the Three Kings.

Have a look and see for yourself

And once the procession was over the the nativity scene transferred to a huge outdoor stage and awaiting the arrival of the Kings and their gifts.

All over the town local restaurants were full of happy people enjoying a celebration meal ahead of the national holiday on the 6 January.
