As ever there are several ways to keep your home toasty. Here’s some suggestions.
Gas Heaters – Readily available and relatively cheap to run, these will give you portable heating. The cost of gas bottles is regulated by the Spanish Government so there is little point in shopping around. And how long your gas lasts will of course depend on how much you use it. One drawback to gas heaters is the amount of condensation they create, something to bear in mind if you are going to rely on them for extended periods of time.
Wood Burners – You’ll find many properties have wood burners in the main living area. Not only are they efficient to run they are attractive on those cold evenings. Some even come with a cooking area for slow roasts and stews. Wood for them is readily available and can be delivered to your home in bulk supplies.
Pellet Burners – Relatively new to the Spanish market, pellet burners are a cleaner alternative to a woodturner. They are very efficient and you can regulate the temperature of the room they heat. Each day you simply need to remove the ash and fill up with pellets which can be bought for around 3-4 Euros a bag. Larger scale burners can even be used for hot water and central heating systems.
Central Heating – Even in Spain homes do come with central heating be that traditional radiators or underfloor heating. These give you clean heating options without the need for fires in your home. Typically run either on bottled gas or pellet burners centrhalheating systems require specialist installation.
